Description

Biography

Sculptor and creator of installations. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree of Business Administration from Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico in 1998 and in 2010 got a Bachelor’s Degree of Arts with a Major in Sculpture from Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Puerto Rico. He was winner in 2009 of the Second Prize at the Tercer Certamen de Arte Joven from Oriental Bank and Trust of Puerto Rico and in 2011was one of the winners of the Lexus Grants. He has done solo exhibitions in Puerto Rico and the United States, and has participated in group exhibitions in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Colombia, China and the United States. Diaz Torres’ works talk about the value of small everyday things, freedom and the ephemeral nature of the material world, and life. Trained in ceramics, he cultivates the mimetic concept in his work.
